India’s First VirtualReality Literary Fest Is Here

The Kindle LitFestX brings a whole new type of literary festival to the country – the virtual kind.

A lot of people don’t buy books anymore, preferring to read on their Kindles and iPads and phones. In keeping with the age, Amazon along with knowledge media firm, Leapvault, decided that time is ripe for a virtual literary fest. The festival plans to make this happen by leveraging digital platforms like Google Hangouts, YouTube Live and social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter, from October 23 to November 1.Authors like Ashwin Sanghi, Raghav Bahl, Deepa Prahalad, Dr. R.A. Mashelkar have been confirmed as part of the festival, and there are more to come. LitFestX celebrates the joy of reading, and hopes to draw in both readers and non-readers alike. Kumaar Bagrodia, CEO, Leapvault, said, “I wanted to create a platform that would provide an opportunity for people across India (and abroad) to get access to literary works and thinkers in a format that this generation understands and are comfortable with: digital and social. Kindle is a great digital experience for readers and we are excited about our partnership with Kindle for the inaugural season of LitFestX.”

The fest will reach people by having sessions through YouTube and Hangouts, where authors record, or speak live. Users can also interact with authors through social feeds, so it works both ways like an actually literary fest. And the best part is, you can literally carry the litfest around in your pocket!
